NEWS FOR 2026

A Community Collaboration

This year, the Shingle Creek Center Fair is doing something big. ACER Inc. is proud to collaborate with the Twin Cities Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, bringing our annual community celebration together with one of the most recognized street basketball tournaments in the country — same day, same location.

On Saturday, August 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Fair takes over North Hennepin Community College alongside day one of the tournament.

Shop local vendors, enjoy cultural cuisine and live performances, bring the kids for family activities — and catch fast-paced 3-on-3 basketball on dozens of outdoor courts, all in one place. The tournament continues Sunday, August 16, with championship games and a Car Show.

About Shingle Creek Center

Shingle Creek Center is a culturally rooted commercial hub in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, serving African immigrant, Black, and broader BIPOC communities across the northwest Twin Cities metro.

The Center is owned by Brooklyn’s Cultural Village (BCV), a community-centered ownership entity focused on long-term cultural and economic revitalization. A core partner within BCV is African Career, Education & Resource Inc. (ACER), a trusted nonprofit organization founded in 2008.

ACER began by hosting community resource fairs creating opportunities for residents to connect with local businesses, service providers, and organizations. Over the past 18 years, these efforts have evolved into large-scale community celebrations, laying the foundation for the Shingle Creek Center Fair as it exists today.
