Shingle Creek Center isn’t just a place to shop. It’s a symbol of community ownership, cultural pride, and economic opportunity.

Rooted in ACER’s commitment to economic and community development, the vision behind Shingle Creek Center is to promote, sustain, and grow the collective wealth of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Through a strategic partnership with the Ignite Business Women Investment Group Cooperative (IBWIG), the shopping center was purchased and set on a new path, one focused on becoming a cultural and economic anchor for Brooklyn Center.

Together, this partnership, known as Brooklyn’s Cultural Village (BCV), is transforming Shingle Creek Center into an Innovation and Catalyst Center (ICC). This new vision centers on creating an accessible space where small and micro BIPOC-owned businesses can thrive with affordable retail opportunities, technical assistance, and long-term support.

The goal is clear: close the generational wealth gap, uplift local businesses, and build a sustainable model for cultural wealth building in the community.

A Vision of Empowerment

We see Shingle Creek Center as a dynamic destination that brings together commerce, culture, and innovation. It’s a place where shopping connects to storytelling, where diversity is embraced, and where local entrepreneurs can build something lasting.

A Mission With Heart

Our mission is to create a retail experience rooted in community. One that empowers local business owners, celebrates cultural richness, and prioritizes sustainability. With events, pop-ups, and unique shopping experiences, Shingle Creek Center is being built for everyone, by the community itself.

This is just the beginning. We’re excited for what’s next.
